Payment Reform Learning Collaborative: An Interactive Series to Promote Shared Decision Making as a Key Tool

Funder: Beckwith Institute

Summary: A year-long learning collaborative will further engage families who participated in the RWJF funded UPMC High Value Care for Kids project, thereby extending the value of the research and data collected from the original project. The goal of the learning collaborative is to develop tools for shared decision-making and methods that can continually improve patient self-management. During its initial implementation, UPMC High Value Care for Kids successfully demonstrated and documented a set of replicable methods for a Medicaid payment reform. This greatly improved the quality of life for children with medically-complex conditions. The project serves as a best-practice model for collaboration among families, and community and health care stakeholders.
