Collaborate With Us

Strong, collaborative relationships among healthcare stakeholders are necessary to deliver on the promise of a high-value health care system. The UPMC Center for High-Value Health Care and the UPMC Insurance Services Division (ISD) actively pursue extramural funding opportunities that have the potential to improve clinical practice and optimize care delivery. The Center invites clinical and academic researchers, healthcare professionals, policy and advocacy organizations, and community organizations to collaborate with us to conduct or participate in health services research and evaluation.

We prioritize collaborations that explicitly align with UPMC ISD's business priorities, are most likely to benefit our members, and offer a deeper level of collaboration than one-time data requests. We encourage potential collaborators to review our Guidelines for Conducting Collaborative Research with the Center and our current Populations of Interest and Business Priorities. Additionally, we require Center and/or ISD team members to be part of the project team from the development phase and, when appropriate, for their effort to be included in project budgets. How We Collaborate

The Center for High-Value Health Care can collaborate on extramurally funded proposals and projects by facilitating or providing:

Center/ISD staff serving as subject matter experts, consultants, and/or co-investigators.
Letters of support from UPMC ISD for projects aligned with our research and organizational priorities.
Data Requests (inquiries regarding cost data or collaborative cost analyses will be consider though the UPMC ISD generally does not disclose cost or payment information).

Because health insurance is a highly regulated industry, approved research collaboration requests are subject to additional legal and privacy reviews by UPMC ISD, contract requirements, and state or federal approvals. We encourage potential collaborators to reach out to us early in their planning to avoid delays.
