Critical to our success are the strong collaborations that we have fostered with dozens of diverse community-based organizations (CBOs) such as Hosanna House and Neighborhood Resilience Project to create unique programs targeting social needs such as housing, food access/nutrition, workforce/employment, transportation, childcare access and affordability, clothing/basic necessities, financial strain, health care access and affordability, utilities, and health literacy.
In 2022, the Center for Social Impact expanded and deepened our relationships with CBOs to meet members where they are and connect them with benefit and program resources to meet their basic social needs. With the grand opening of the UPMC Health Plan Neighborhood Center, which serves as a hub for connecting members with services, and establishment of a partnership with Fabric Health, a CBO that engages Medicaid members in navigating social benefits and programs at neighborhood laundromats we took meeting members where they are to a new level. These brick-and-mortar embodiments of UPMC’s commitment to CBO collaborators and members present new opportunities for in-person connections and interactions among UPMC staff, CBOs, and members.
